Let's talk about F7 Report...

Main Post:

It's broken. It has been broken for a good amount of time. I find it nearly impossible to submit a report when someone is hacking or cheating, because they've done a number of things to make it so their name does not appear on the list of players in the server.

More often than not, if I use my Steam overlay button and click on the Player list, it does not show the cheater's name in this list or in recent games. This is also the same when I use the F7 Report button in Rust. The only temporary fix that I've found is using this URL: http://steamcommunity.com/id/YOUR ID GOES HERE/friends/players

However, this link can only be used while connected to a Rust server, and only using the Steam browser while using steam overlay. If I try using this link outside of Rust, it redirects to http://steamcommunity.com/id/YOUR ID GOES HERE/friends instead.

Also, my Steam overlay stopped working so I can't even get that far, but I'm sure there are fixes that exist for that issue. So that means I have a 0% chance at reporting someone right now because either they change their IGN, which removes their name from the F7 Report player list, or I can't find their steam profile because of steam's shitty player list/recent games list in the Steam overlay, which does not work most of the time.

Preventing cheating and hacking in Rust can only happen when you involve the community. This is where the majority of reports will occur and likely have a big impact, but only if we have a working system that is intuitive and easy to use, but not easy to exploit.

Please Facepunch, it doesn't inspire confidence in players when they lose everything to a blatant hacker and then can't even report them. Seriously, its soul crushing when as a player you are completely powerless to the hackers on your server

ProTip: Don't talk in public chat, the report system is unbalanced

Main Post:

This happened about half a month ago, a 4 day old account false framed my words and reported me which got me banned. He was trying to harass me and other players in public chat. I have evidence behind it along with witnesses who was there for the incident which was all sent to com2us. It's been hard trying to get an appropriate response and so far doesn't even seem like they read my messages but instead, they send a automated response. Even when I messaged them before the ban and after.

I had been ban before and some of which I deserve but others I strongly suspect are report trolls. Specially a time when I was banned back to back when I didn't even chat after the first ban but the issue is that when I try to appeal it, it's the same scenario. It all comes down to this

"For security purposes, we are not able to disclose detailed information about account restriction protocol/procedures, factors which influence placement of account restrictions, nor can the restriction status of other users be disclosed to third parties."

The report system is set up to favor the person reporting it. Even if it is a false report by false framing the chat or even manipulating the screenshot, it is very difficult to for the accused to get a fair shake.

I didn't have evidence for the past bans that I think where false reports so I couldn't fight it as strong as the latest one but even still it didn't get me very far along with taking so much time.

It's understandable for them to protect the person reporting but what about the accused? Even if your like me where you played 6 years spent thousands of dollars and have a very established account, the advantage is for the person filing the report even if it's an 4 day old account that clearly harsses other players and is clearly an alt account to avoid the repercussions of a false report.

I'm not the only person being banned, most notably channel 119 but I am getting word that other players in other channels are randomly getting banned. Here's the incident with channel 119 https://www.reddit.com/r/summonerswar/comments/igi2k8/influx_of_bans_due_to_chat_in_119_global/

I'm more fortunate because the troll spoke out in public chat after telling me he will report me, he then proceed to insult and throw racist and sexual remarks for me to screenshot.

However, if the report troll just reports you without speaking, you wouldn't be able to have any idea let alone evidence to support you.

I strongly suspect they ban anyone they receive a report from based on their automated responses. Perhaps it is because of the language barrier but thus far it will be a very difficult thing to fight. From my past experience about being banned back to back even when I didn't speak in public chat after the first ban, I think it is entirely possible for false reports to go through the system.

As bad as it affects me, I don't want anyone else to be affected. Please don't talk in public channels. The report system is extremely difficult to manage if you ever get a false report. It's just not worth it to talk in public channels anymore

I had a case where someone in 101 made a new account with my name but replaced the L with a capital i, and started spamming replays to try and get everyone to report me.

I just changed my name so nothing happened but it just goes to show there really are some people out there with nothing better to do than false report others
